“The childbearing year is one of remarkable change, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. As a midwife, I am honoured to bear witness to this journey, this metamorphosis a woman and her family go through. It is a privilege to be present at the birth of a baby, to observe that sacred moment of new life, when a couple is transformed into parents and a woman becomes a mother.”

Jennifer has an ongoing interest in women’s health and women’s rights, and was drawn to the midwifery model of care and the opportunity to work closely with women and their families. She completed her midwifery training at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. Her training took place in both urban and suburban settings in Ontario and she also had the opportunity to train with a midwife in the Okanagan. Prior to becoming a midwife, Jennifer obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from UBC.

With her wonderfully supportive partner, she has spent a lot of time travelling and exploring, both across Canada and around the world. Over the past ten years they have travelled, lived and worked in Korea, China, Australia and Southeast Asia, and completed a road trip from BC to Labrador and back again! Living abroad has only solidified her sense of home, and she is thrilled to be returning home to the splendour of the West Coast to settle down and work as a midwife within the Comox Valley community. When she is not catching babies, Jennifer loves to putter in the garden, knit and kayak.
